Stop-01: Hegra:
Hegra, also called Madain Salih, is the first place in Saudi Arabia to be recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Known for its enormous rock-cut tombs with elaborate carvings and inscriptions, it was the second-largest city in the Nabataean Kingdom, behind Petra. Hegra has more than 100 tombs carved into enormous sandstone outcrops that date back to the first century BCE. Each tomb demonstrates the Nabataeans’ mastery of both building and art. A wonderful window into the way of life and beliefs of this ancient culture is offered by the site’s old wells and housing remains. Hegra is a spectacular and historically rich site for tourists because of its desolate desert location, surviving inscriptions, and magnificent tomb façades.
Stop-02: Old Town of Alula
Known for its mud-brick homes, winding lanes, and classic Arabian architecture, AlUla Old Town is a historic community in Saudi Arabia that dates back more than 800 years. Once a bustling station on the pilgrimage route to Mecca, it features 400 businesses, approximately 900 houses, and ancient mosques. In the midst of stunning vistas of the desert and oasis, visitors may explore intact structures that combine Nabataean, Roman, and Islamic influences, providing a window into ancient lifestyles. Its attractiveness has been maintained by recent conservation efforts, making it a great place to experience real Arabian heritage.
Stop-03: Alula
Sustained by natural springs and historic irrigation systems, the oases of AlUla are verdant, lush havens amid the desert. For thousands of years, they have sustained life by fostering citrus trees, date palms, and other crops. These oasis, which represent the region’s rich agricultural and cultural legacy, stand in stark contrast to AlUla’s untamed mountains and desert.
Stop-04: Jabal AlFil (Elephant Rock)
One of AlUla’s most famous natural landmarks is Elephant Rock, also known as Jabal AlFil. It is a huge sandstone formation that resembles an elephant with a long, arching trunk. Encircled by a stunning panorama of sand and other rock formations, this rock stands prominently in the desert, sculpted over millions of years by wind and water erosion. It is a popular location for pictures and a must-see for tourists visiting AlUla because it is particularly spectacular after sunset.
After that, we bid each other farewell and wrap up the tour.
